HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-fd0000 (952D1AV)

WhatsApp Image 2025-07-24 at 12.32.50.jpegI have LAPTOP-HP-15-fd0467TU. From last week there is a huge work load I delivered and laptop is in working condition for 18-20 hours daily. I don't know why? From yesterday few vertical lines appeared at the left bottom of the screen. Also I noticed slight heating issue during my work.

Hi @Saurabh026,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for the detailed description. Based on your experience with the HP 15-fd0467TU laptop, here’s what might be going on, and how we can start addressing it:

🔍 Possible Causes:

1. Vertical Lines on Screen

  • Overheating can sometimes lead to temporary or even permanent issues with the GPU or display components.
  • It could also be due to a loose or damaged display cable or an internal panel issue.
  • If the vertical lines appear during boot or in the BIOS screen, that typically points to a hardware-related problem rather than software.

2. Heating Issue

  • Running the laptop 18–20 hours daily, especially under heavy load, can put it under significant thermal stress.
  • Over time, this can lead to dust buildup inside the vents or drying out of thermal paste, both of which reduce cooling performance and raise internal temperatures.

Recommended Actions to be taken.

1. Check for Hardware Damage

  • Restart the laptop and enter BIOS (F10).
  • If the vertical lines appear in BIOS, it’s a hardware issue (not software or driver-related).

2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Press Esc repeatedly at startup, then F2 to open diagnostics.
  • Run Display Test and System Test (especially memory and graphics).

3. Update Graphics Drivers and BIOS

  • Use HP Support Assistant or visit the HP Drivers Page for your model.
  • Update:
    • Graphics drivers
    • BIOS
    • Chipset drivers

4. Monitor and Manage Heat

  • Use HP Command Center or third-party tools like HWMonitor to check CPU/GPU temps.
  • Place the laptop on a cooling pad or a hard surface.
  • Avoid blocking vents and consider reducing workload or using scheduled breaks.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
