  Hi all

Ive just purchased a 2nd hand pavilion notebook that i cant seem to reformat. My problem is the keyboard arrow keys, up down and right no longer work only the left arrow does. Someone else has changed the boot order so i cant revert it back to boot from cd rom without the arrow keys. As im here in australia i dont have access to new keyboards. Can you give any advice. thnx in advance.

Hi,

One option would be to temporarily connect an external usb keyboard.

Also, if you're trying to boot from an installation disc, I'd do this via the boot manager menu, rather than setting the boot priority in the bios menu as this is often ignored - you can do this as follows.

Insert the installation disc and Shutdown the notebook.

Tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Start-up Menu and then select the Boot Options Menu ( f9 ).

Use the arrow keys to highlight the CDROM option and hit enter - if prompted to 'Press any key to continue....' - do so.

Regards,
