HP Elitebook x360 1040 G8
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop screen colour looks strange (colours become pronounced and blurred, difficult to read highlighted text etc.) in daylight.

If I block the IR camera/sensors in the top bezel of the screen (left of the webcam) then the display goes back to normal but as soon as I move my hand away from the sensor the weird display comes back. I've tried to turn down auto brightness in settings and played with colour calibration but nothing works. The only option is to keep the curtains closed, or put black tape over the sensor - neither is elegant.

The only occurs when I use the dark theme in Win 10. If I switch back to Light then there is no colour change. On my previous laptop (Elitebook x360 1030 G2) this never occured in dark/light theme. The issue is only with my new laptop (has been an issues since I first received it a week ago). I also have 2 external monitors connected but there is no colour change on those.

Any assistance will be appreciated!

Hi, you can adjust the auto-brightness by following these tips. I will provide the link so you can look through it.

Keep me posted on this.

Hi

I didn't see adaptive brightness in the advanced power options and the option to disable or stop the service was grayed out!

Any other suggestions? I've turned off auto brightness in the display settings but it doesn't change anything

There might possibly be a problem with the display or other computer hardware. This challenge likely would require repair.
