Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
This the simple and best way to change the display orientation> Hit ctrl+shift+refresh The refresh key is the one with the spinning arrow. It'llrotate the screen 90 degrees.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Ok that works in laptop mode but that doesn't fix the problem. When I fold this into either tent or tablet mode, the screen is supposed to auto rotate. I can changw thw orientation before folding it back, but one of the features of this is it has an auto rotate function. So does anyone know how to fix this?

@jwk0875
I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.
Let's try updating Intel Integrated Sensor Solution Driver and check if that helps.
You can update the drivers using HP support assistant.
Refer this article to know more information about using HP support assistant.
Also, try changing a few settings:
- Open Settings App and go to System > Display.
- Find Orientation and choose Portrait from the menu.
- Your device should automatically switch to portrait mode.
- Go to Control Panel> Display>Change Display Settings and then make sure that the "Allow the screen to auto-rotate" is selected
Refer this article to know more information about Switching Between Tablet Mode and Desktop Mode.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
