Hi everyone,
I buyed an HP spectre x360 2020 model few months ago, and used it with my eGPU (Mantiz saturn pro v2 + 1080ti) without any problem until few weeks.
Since around 6/7 weeks, my laptop doesn't charge when i'm plugged onto my eGPU. Everythin else works (the eGPU, plugged screens on the eGPU, plugged ethernet on the eGPU, etc ...). The eGPU can deliver 100w, my laptop only need 60. The eGPU charges my smartphone & another laptop without any problem. I tryed to change the PSU of the eGPU, and to use it without GPU inside, but the laptop won't charge.
I don't have any problem charging my laptop with OEM HP charger ...
I tryed to completly re-install windows, and try a lot of drivers, without any succes, then I find the problem : the BIOS.
It appears that now Windows 10 can upgrade the BIOS if the constructor push the upgrade. I never wanted to upgrade that **bleep**in BIOS, but it did it automatically.
I think I was in BIOS v18 when the eGPU worked, but there is no way I can downgrade my BIOS, BECAUSE HP BLOCK IT ! Indeed, when I try to run the procedure, to boot with the right USB key with the BIOS downgrade, it says that it can't fin signature file for the BIOS, but I can see this file ...
I tryed v15 with the same error, and previous BIOS CAN'T BE DOWNLOADED !
So, it looks like HP blocked charge from not HP charger ?! The worst thing is that i can't even plug my OEM charge + eGPU, it doesn't charge either !
This practice is intolerable, and the worst part is that I have been waiting for a response from support for several days without any feedback from them!
HP, take your responsability and help me repair a 2000€ laptop that YOU broke
Thanks,
Julien

So, 2 weeks has passed and NOTHING.
I received 3/4 calls from support, and they won't give me any solution for this.
During the last call, the operator said that their "engineer team" recommendations was to re-install windows, because I'm on Windows Pro, and the PC was with a Home version. So, they really think that windows can block a manual BIOS update ?
Last week, they made me desactivate Windows pilot Signature ... They don't even know what is a BIOS ?! Or they don't give a **bleep** ?
HP, you made my PC not able to charge with not OEM charger, and you're blocking me to back to an older BIOS version, it's a scam !!
