Have only used computer a few times. I have spent more hours trying to resolve this than using the laptop. Backlit keyboard not essential, but something that mattered to me when choosing this product. Support said it was hardware issue, and over $400 to repair. I find this hard to believe. Regardless, this is nonsense, as it is clear that this is a problem for hundreds of other hp users. Do something, HP. Better yet, do the RIGHT thing and resolve this problem. So disgusted!

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
