Every time my computer is shut down or is restarted from hibernation mode I get a blank display sceen. The laptop is running but the screen is black. I have updated the BIOS and downloaded the new Windows 10 update. I have to unplug the power, turn off the computer, then press the windows key and "v" in order to get the computer to reboot and the HP logo and display to start. Otherwise there is no display, no mouse cursor, etc. I am having to do this every time the computer is closed or restarted.

The link to the article http://hp.care/2xsrS6p was helpful. But the link to "HP image enhancement for system logon" just took me to a list and not the download. So I Googled "HP image enhancement for system logon" and found this site
There I found the following download: sp81965.exe
So far it has seemed to fix the problem. I really wish HP would email customers when they know a fix is available. I spent a week trying different things. I am hoping this works. Thanks for the article.

Well, that didn't fix the problem. The computer started around three times with the screen displayed and then went back to a black screen at the next startup. Now, I have just spent the past twenty minutes restarting the computer and holding down the 'windows' and 'v' key. The display finally started. I don't know what to do next.

I have now reset the computer and I was still getting a blank screen until I pressed the 'windows r' keys and the display appeared. Sometimes the laptop starts up just fine and then two days later I'm getting the blank screen again.
Also, now I cannot open Skype and it will not display any searches when I type in the search box. I can use Cortana.

the hp support assistant will not work either. I have uninstalled and installed it a number of times. I get the Hp Support Assistant logo and nothing else happens. None of the support seems to work. I installed the BIOS from the HP website and it didn't make any difference. I am totally frustrated with this HP laptop. It's been almost two years of problems.

I have now spent hours and hours resetting the computer, reinstalling software, updating windows and this morning I turned on the computer and all I saw was a blank screen. It took me about 10 tries...eventually 'windows key r" worked. What do I need to do to stop getting a blank screen when I startup the computer? If I have to do a restart, the display works fine but if I shut down, hibernate or sleep there is no display when I start the computer. Actually, I should say sometimes there is a display and sometimes there isn't. What can be causing this problem?
