Hi @rxw4rd

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP laptop powers on but displays a blank screen, and you were unable to install a BIOS recovery, it suggests there might be a hardware or firmware issue.

Let's troubleshoot step by step:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off your laptop and unplug it from the power source.
  2. If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out.
  3. Press and hold the Power Button for 30 seconds to drain residual power.
  4. Reconnect the battery (if removable) and plug the laptop back in.
  5. Power on the laptop to check if the display responds.

2. Connect to an External Monitor

  • If the built-in screen remains blank:
    • Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI or VGA cable.
    • Power on the laptop. If the external monitor displays correctly, the issue may lie with the laptop screen or its connections.

3. BIOS Recovery

4. Check for Display Issues

  • Shine a flashlight onto the laptop screen at an angle while it's powered on:
    • If you can see faint visuals, it could mean the backlight of your screen is failing.
    • If not, it might be a more serious hardware issue.

5. Reset CMOS Battery (Advanced)

  • If you're comfortable handling internal components:
    • Power off the laptop and disconnect from power.
    • Open the back panel and locate the CMOS battery on the motherboard.
    • Disconnect the CMOS battery for 5-10 minutes, then reconnect it. This resets the BIOS settings.
