This is my last effort to get this working, before I am returning this brand new HP laptop to the store, where I bought it from this afternoon. I connected the laptop to an external monitor via HDMI / DP cable and the laptop is not detecting the external monitor. I know that it's not the cable or monitor, as my work laptop detects it just fine. When I called the support I am being told I have to pay for this issue to be looked at - no way I am paying for something which should be working on this brand new laptop.
Any advice? If I am not successful in connecting this laptop to the monitor, I will be returning it tomorrow and purchasing another brand.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
