Hello experts,
My Pavilion Dm4 brightness controls still do not work even after uninstalling, rebooting, and re-installing the graphics driver.
Please, what else may I try in order to regain the use of the controls urgently because the monitor's glare could be unbearable at times and power-draining in times of power outages.
I earnestly await your professional recommendations.
Thanks.

Hello miqyu,
You’re not able to adjust the brightness on your laptop.
Please post your product and model number.
You can find this information by holding the FN key and pressing the ESC key.
You may need to update some of your drivers.
Do a hard reset.
Turn the computer off.
Remove the power cable and the battery.
Hold down the power button for 15 sec while booth power sources are removed.
This should reset the hardware in the computer.
As you turn it back on tap the F10 key. This will load BIOS setup utility.
Press F9 to load defaults.
Press F10 to save and exit.
When the computer boots back up, check to see if everything is working.
Let me know how everything goes.

I fail to see why HP 'experts' are so useless. I had a problem with Support Assistant and HP experts had no idea and left many users hanging. Now the brightness issue is more of the same.
I did note that another user came up with a solution. I did the same by downloading the latest driver (using DriverMax). As the other user noted the problem was in the Control Panel/Device Manager/ Display Adaptors. There is only 1 item in this location (well there was for me) and I went to DriverMax and checked all of my drivers and then downloaded the latest version of the file listed under "Display Adaptors". Problem fixed.
Hope it works for long suffering HP users.

I actually found a better solution...go to device manager, find your driver.Once a window pops up press 'driver' and 'roll back',your screen might flash a bit, change resolutions & your PC might freeze for a bit. But wait approx. 3 mins & there you go.No rebooting,no nothing 🙂 Easy as that

Thanks. I fixed this some time ago but sometimes for no apparent reason brightness control (inexplicably) stops working. Same as finger log on which occasionally stops functioning properly. I can only put it down to errors which HP does not bother to fix until the trickle becomes a flood.
