Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

"Brightness indicator on left corners" - the best way to describe this, would be a screenshot or a snapshot of what you see, so that we can hit the nail on its head and resolve the issue immediately.

That said, if the cursor or touchpad stops moving periodically though the keyboard doesn't work, I suggest you connect an alternate/external mouse to check if that works fine, while the touchpad stops working, that would prove its a defective touchpad.

If the issue with the cursor not working persist, with the external mouse as well, I recommend you reinstall the drivers of the mouse from the device manager, while the touchpad works:

  • Right-Click on the windows button,
  • Select Device Manager,
  • look for Mice and other pointing devices & click on the arrow on its left,
  • Then, Right-Click on the options below it and select "Uninstall device"
  • Select the check box - "Delete the driver software for this device",
  • And select Uninstall.
  • Restart the computer when done to resolve the issue
    • (As it would automatically, reinstall the relevant drivers to fix the issue)

If you feel I was helpful, simply click on Accept as Solution to say thanks.

That said, I will have someone follow-up on this to ensure you've been helped,
