Pavilion g6-2016tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I am using  HP pavilion g6-2016tx model laptop. Recently, when I turned on my laptop, I found the brighness set to the maximum level automatically. I tried to reduce it using the function key. When I press the function key, it is being displayed that the brighness is reducing but it is not reducing at all. Plese tell me what should I do ?

My laptop has AMD Radeon HD 7600M series graphics card.

Don't worry, I'm here to help!

Let's try these steps -

Solution# 1 Re-install the display adapter -

1) In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results.
2) In Device Manager, expand Display Adapter.
3) Right-click on the Display Adapter, and then select Uninstall device > Delete the driver software for this device check box > Uninstall.
4) Restart the computer.

Also, try updating the computer -

Solution# 4 HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.

You may also try these steps to adjust the brightness of the screen -

1) Right click on the Start or Windows icon and open Control Panel.

2) Click on Hardware and Sound.

3) Click on Power Options.

4) Look for Screen Brightness located at the very bottom of the screen.

5) Move the slider to adjust the brightness.

Hope this helps!

Let me know how that goes.

Thank you for the reply.

In Solution# 1, you have described how to uninstall the display adapter driver. But you have not mentioned how to re-install it. So, please tell me how to do that. Moreover, when I expanded Display Adapter, I could see two adapters viz. AMD Radeon HD 7600 Series and Intel(R) Graphics HD 4000. So, which one should I uninstall ?

Thanks for replying. Please uninstall both the adapters. Once you restart the computer, the drivers will get automatically installed.

Keep me posted.
