Like SO MANY others, my Envy has a broken hinge, a mere 2 weeks after the warranty expired. I have used it incredibly lightly the entire time I've had it, so it's not an abuse issue. I simply opened the laptop the other day and heard the crunch in the corner. Fortunately, it did not break my screen itself. I paid for a premium laptop, with an aluminum case, so to find that the hinges are screwed into plastic is incredibly frustrating. I work in IT in education, and this is the exact same hinge construction that I see in $150 chromebooks. It's unacceptable. I even tried to order a new top case but, unfortunately, they cannot be ordered from the HP parts site, even though the computer is a year old. I will not be paying $300 for HP to repair something that is a ticking time bomb of a design flaw, so, any HP mods on here got any better ideas??? Time to make this right for everyone who bought these machines.
