Daughter made me aware the hinge broke and it cracked the screen from the right corner. Of course I was made aware after the warranty expired. This is beyond a warranty issue. I see there is at least one class action lawsuit and many threads here with many people clicking "they have the same issue". I would like to hear from HP and get this fixed. I haven't had a single laptop that ever had it hinges break. Just over 2 years and it breaks? I guess it lasted that long since it was mostly used closed and USB-C'd to a docking station with a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
I'd like someone from HP to reach out to address this issue. Thank you!

@MrElectronics, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding broken hinge issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I completely understand how frustrating this situation must be, especially since the laptop was well cared for and primarily used with a docking station. We appreciate you reaching out and sharing your experience.
While HP’s standard warranty doesn’t cover physical damage, repairs can still be done through our authorized service centers for a nominal charge. If you had an HP Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) plan, this type of issue would be covered, but without it, repair costs would apply.

I understand this isn't the ideal news, but I hope this helps in getting your device repaired as smoothly as possible. Let me know if you need any further guidance.
Take care, and have an amazing day!

We didn't cause any physical damage. The weak hinges broke and damaged the laptop. Need HP to fix this issue due to the horrible design. Take note at how many posts are in regards to this issue. I notice the search limits to a number of posts. If you do multiple searches you get even more. From all the previous threads I've seen HP respond with reaching out directly and addressing the problem. Why am I being directed to do the repair?

@MrElectronics, hello!
Thank you for following up. I completely understand your frustration, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns. It’s never ideal when something like this happens, especially when the device has been well taken care of.
To clarify, while some HP models have extended coverage for hinge-related issues, this particular model doesn’t fall under that category. Since the warranty has expired, repairs would require a nominal service charge through an HP Authorized Service Center. I know this may not be the answer you were hoping for, but I want to be upfront about what’s possible.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
