Spectre X360 ae003na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello there,

I recently purchased my Spectre x360 ae003na which came with the Active Pen included in the box.  I have paired the pen as per the instructions in the leaflet, and can use it to write, draw, click etc.

However, I cannot map the buttons to open certain software (done through the settings, e.g. top button click will open OneNote).

The side button DOES work as a right click.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks,

Mel

Look for (double check) your computer model and stylus in the compatibility list,

If your pen is same as the pen listed (1CP24AV / Y0C43AV ) for your model (Spectre x360 13-ae000)

Then

Install the driver (at the bottom of this page)

(1CP24AV / Y0C43AV ) Only the one pen model currently provides a driver

Not your model computer?  Check the list for compatible pen.

and / or

Correct stylus not working?

Pen Driver already installed (if applicable)?

Then

  • Check your computer's Software and Driver Page for a relevant firmware update.

Which stylus is compatible?

Compatibility List:

HP PCs - Touchscreen Compatibility with Pen and Stylus

If there is an HP Active Stylus available for your computer, it will be included in the list.

Hints:

  • Open the document in your browser
  • Click open both categories (business and consumer) to expand the lists
  • Examine the lists to find a possible match to your computer model

OR

  • Use CTRL-F to open the webpage search bar – type in the model type of your computer, leaving off the “HP” prefix and stopping just before OR just after the “dash” in the name
  • For example: Spectre x360 15-   or   Spectre x360
  • If a match is found, examine the results to determine if there is a pen for your model group
  • For example: matches for Spectre x360 15 include model groups: Spectre x360 15-ap0xx, Spectre x360 15-bl0xx

Hi Dragon-Fur
Thanks for your advice, however unfortunately the button mapping on my pen is still not working.

I checked the list; I have the HP Tilt pen 1SC98AV which it says is compatible with my Spectre model (as I would have hoped, as it came bundled in the box!) but there is not a driver for this particular model.

I have also checked the driver and update sections of my computer but it's telling me everything is up to date, no drivers to download.

I've tried changing the function the button is supposed to perform but no luck with any of them - the functions perform fine when done on the computer using the mouse (e.g. opening OneNote) and the other button on the pen will perform the right click function - it's just the top button that doesn't seem to work.

Do you have any other possibilities?

Thank you 🙂

Yeah. The HP support is completely useless

In my case everything worked perfectly until Windows 1903 updated installed. Then the buttons stopped responding while the stylus worked properly.

What helped for me is I disabled the Windows ink app which, I guess, was not compatible with HP pen. So:

1. Ensure that HP Pen Control App is installed

2. Disable the Windows ink app
