Hey there! @808trudgin, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand you need to change a name on the login screen.
Please try few steps recommended below.
Open Start Menu and click on Settings. Once the Settings app opens, click on Accounts and then on Your account.
Here, you will see a Manage my Microsoft account link in blue. Click on it to visit your Microsoft account home page at account.microsoft.com. You may be asked to log in again.
Here on the left side, under Hello, you will see an Edit name link against your name.
Click on it, and on the page which opens, write the name you want to be displayed and click on Save. This is the same name which will be used when you send emails using this email ID.
When you restart your computer, you will see that the account username being displayed has been changed.

HP 15 Notebook , After changing administers in control panel the log in screen did not reflect the change on start-up. The information provided by HP did work. I did manage to change the screen name by , restarting computer then when it asked for my password I used forgot password, when the new screen loaded I did a hard shutdown. Then on start-up the new username loaded.

3. Error message (if any)
• Example: ""Low disk space"" error in Windows
4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred
• Examples: Upgrading your Operating System or installing a new software; or installing new hardware like a printer, modem, or router.
