Hey!
I have been struggling with the camera showing me the "real" photo of myself (i have a hptruevision camera) and i'd like to turn this off but i cant find the settings in the camera app and my bios and drivers are up-to-date. What could i possibly have missed?
Thanks!

Hi @ch_01822,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I totally get how awkward it can feel when your HP TrueVision camera shows a super clear, real-time image and you’d prefer something softer or less detailed. Let’s explore what might be going on and how to adjust it.
Why Your Camera Feels “Too Real”
The HP TrueVision camera is designed to deliver high-definition clarity, and Windows 11’s Camera app doesn’t offer many built-in filters or softening options. If it feels too sharp or “raw,” it’s likely due to:
- No beauty or softening filters enabled
- HDR or auto-enhancement features are active
- Third-party apps not applying effects
What You Can Try
1. Check Camera App Settings
- Open the Camera app.
- Click the gear icon ⚙️ (bottom left).
- Look for settings like:
- Video quality – try lowering it.
- Brightness/Contrast – adjust if available.
Unfortunately, the default Camera app doesn’t offer filters or beautification.
2. Use HP Enhanced Camera or Third-Party Software
Some HP models come with HP Enhanced Camera or CyberLink YouCam:
- Check your installed apps or HP Support Assistant.
- These apps often include:
- Soft focus
- Skin smoothing
- Background blur
If not installed, you can try: 👉 Snap Camera (by Snap Inc.)
👉 ManyCam
👉 OBS Studio with filters
These tools let you apply filters and effects before the video reaches Zoom, Teams, etc.
3. Disable HDR or Auto Enhancements (if available)
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Cameras.
- Select your HP TrueVision camera.
- Disable HDR or Auto Adjustments if listed.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
