“My built-in HP Wide Vision HD Camera, is only enumerating as MI_02 Camera DFU Device. The normal camera/UVC interface is absent. Device Manager has no Camera category and Windows reports 0xA00F4244 NoCamerasAreAttached. I need the OEM webcam firmware recovery/reflash procedure for Victus 15-fb0146AX, product number 8F502PA

Hi @ningman,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for providing the detailed information.
The HP Victus 15-fb0146AX (8F502PA) does not include a physical webcam shutter or camera switch that could disable the camera. Since the camera is currently enumerating only as "MI_02 Camera DFU Device" and the normal UVC camera interface is missing, this suggests that the webcam is not loading its operational firmware correctly.
We recommend the following HP troubleshooting steps:
- Shut down the notebook completely.
- Disconnect all external devices, including USB peripherals.
- Perform a Hard Reset:
- Power off the notebook.
- Disconnect the AC adapter.
- Press and hold the Power button for 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the AC adapter and start the notebook.
- Update the BIOS to the latest available version for your model from the HP Support page:
- In Device Manager:
- Expand Universal Serial Bus devices or USB Controllers.
- Right-click MI_02 Camera DFU Device and select Uninstall device.
- Check Delete the driver software for this device if the option is available.
- Restart the notebook and allow Windows to re-detect the device.
- Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI and perform the Camera Test, if available:
- Power on the PC and repeatedly tap F2.
- Run all available Camera and Component tests.
To help us determine whether this is a firmware issue or a hardware-level camera module issue, please also share:
- A screenshot of Device Manager showing the MI_02 Camera DFU Device entry.
- The Hardware IDs from the device properties (Details > Hardware Ids).
- The results of the HP Hardware Diagnostics Camera Test, if available.
If the camera continues to enumerate only as a DFU device after completing the above steps and BIOS update, additional service may be required, as the webcam firmware recovery process is not exposed through a customer-facing utility for this model.
We look forward to your update and will be happy to review the results.
Take care and have an amazing day!
