My camera isn't working, it says blocked or turned off by a switch or button on my device. I need this for a Teams meeting tomorrow

Hi @Nigel1957,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out to HP Support. I understand you need the camera working urgently for your Teams meeting.

This issue usually happens when the webcam is disabled by a privacy switch, keyboard shortcut, BIOS setting, or Windows permissions.

Please try these steps:

1. Check for a physical webcam shutter/switch and make sure the camera is uncovered.

2. Press the camera function key on the keyboard (camera icon key, sometimes Fn + key).

3. Enable camera permissions:

  • Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera
  • Turn ON:
    • Camera access
    • Let apps access your camera
    • Allow desktop apps access

4. Check Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager
  • Expand Cameras
  • If disabled → right-click → Enable
  • If warning icon → Update driver

5. Perform a hard reset:

  • Shut down the PC
  • Disconnect charger/devices
  • Hold the Power button for 15 seconds
  • Restart the PC

6. Check BIOS:

  • Restart and tap F10
  • Ensure Webcam/Camera is Enabled
