I have a MacBookPro and a HP E243m monitor. The MacBook identifies and uses the monitor itself very well. However, it does not recognize the camera, forcing me to use the MacBook Camera and looking sideways to the monitor. Annoying in these time of home working. I have tried to find camera/video software but the recommended software is for Windows only. Who can help me activate and use my camera on my HP Monitor?

This was asked for the E273 as well.

This solution worked for that monitor.  Perhaps it will work for the E243 as well.

It could be that you need to turn on USB Performance mode.  This enables the USB functionality.  It ships in Power Save mode by default to meet EnergyStar standards.

Set the power mode to Performance Mode and use a HP certified USB-C cable.
  1. Connect an HP certified USB-C cable to the monitor and computer.
  2. Press the OSD button on the monitor.
  3. Select Power Control -> Power Mode.
  4. Select Performance (no matter if USB-A or USB-C connection).

Thank you. I followed the steps but unfortunately the camera is not recognized by any of the software (FaceTime, Zoom, Skype etc) that needs a camera. Only the internal camera itself.

Sorry.  I don't have access to that monitor so I am unable to test any further.  Sorry that did not work.  😞
