A common issue it seems,

It's a pity that the camera doesn't work more than once and a while. I need it in my work since I work from a home office and does all of my communication via Teams. I bought this laptop for this work and paid what see as a handsome sum of money for it. To me the lack of a functioning camera is very cumbersome and, yes I will think twice before I buy a HP product again 😠

I guess it's a software issue, a driver maybe, how hard can it be?

Hi @KenHaf

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your frustration—having a reliable camera is essential for remote work, especially when using applications like Teams. Let’s see if we can troubleshoot the camera issue on your HP Spectre x360:

1. Check Privacy Settings

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
  • Ensure that camera access is enabled for apps, especially Teams.

2. Update or Reinstall Camera Drivers

  • Open Device Manager (right-click on the Start button).
  • Expand the Imaging Devices section and find your camera.
  • Right-click on the camera and select Update driver. Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."
  • If that doesn’t work, try Uninstalling the device. Restart your laptop, and Windows should reinstall the driver.

3. Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any pending updates that might include fixes for camera issues.

4. Test in Other Applications

  • Open a different app that uses the camera (like the Camera app or Zoom) to see if it works there. This helps determine if the issue is with Teams specifically.

5. Check Camera Permissions in Teams

  • Open Teams, go to Settings > Devices, and ensure the correct camera is selected.

6. Hardware Issues

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
