@Harryz20, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Sorry to hear your camera has stopped working on your HP Spectre x360 - 13-aw0023dx. You've already tried reinstalling drivers and rebooting, which is a great start. Let's try a few more steps to get your camera working again:
Check Camera Privacy Settings
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
- Make sure Camera access for this device is turned On.
- Ensure that Allow apps to access your camera is also On.
- Scroll down and check that the app you're using (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Camera app) has permission.
Use HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
- Select Component Tests > Webcam and run the test to check hardware functionality.
Check Device Manager
- Press Windows + X > Device Manager.
- Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
- If the camera is listed, right-click and choose Enable (if disabled).
- If there's a yellow warning icon, right-click > Uninstall device, then restart.
- If the camera is missing, click View > Show hidden devices.
BIOS and Windows Updates
- Go to HP Support and install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your model.
- Also, ensure Windows is fully updated via Settings > Windows Update.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

@Harryz20, Thank you for your response.
And Thanks for trying those steps. Since the camera is still not detected, let’s go a bit deeper:
Check BIOS Settings for Camera Disable Option
Some HP Spectre models have a BIOS-level option to disable the camera.
- Reboot the laptop and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then press F10 to enter BIOS.
- Look for settings under Advanced > Device Options or Security.
- Ensure the Integrated Camera is enabled.
- Save and exit BIOS.
Check for a Physical Kill Switch or Function Key
Some Spectre models have a physical camera kill switch or keyboard shortcut (e.g., F8 with a camera icon).
Make sure it hasn't been accidentally toggled off.
Check Windows Services
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Make sure Windows Camera Frame Server is running.
- If it's set to "Disabled", right-click > Properties > set it to Manual or Automatic > Start the service.
Check USB Controller Devices
It’s possible the camera is integrated via USB:
- Go to Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Right-click each USB Root Hub > Properties > Power Management > uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”.
- Do the same for any Intel USB 3.0/3.1 extensible Host Controller.
Run HP Cloud Recovery Tool (if nothing works)
As a last resort, back up your data and use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool to do a clean reinstall of the factory OS image. If the issue persists even after a full reset, it is very likely a hardware failure.
