HI, i tried to connect a second external monitor to my laptop through the USB-C port using an HDMI to USB-C converter.  I can't get it to recognize the additional monitor. I was reviewing a few of the posts and it looks like the USB-C doesn't support video.

is that right?

if it is, am I able to use an HDMI splitter and use 2 external monitors through the single HDMI port? can I extend the monitors or just duplicate them?

or should/could I use an HDMI splitter to a regular USB port?

thanks JH

Your machine should be one of the following machines

               https://support.hp.com/lt-en/product/hp-laptop-pc-14-d2000/36683214/model/38322792/product-info

Its USB-C port does not support video out.

>>>>  can I extend the monitors or just duplicate them?

You can use HDMI splitter BUT you only get duplicate because they come out from same source.

>>>> or should/could I use an HDMI splitter to a regular USB port?

This is not give you anything.

Option 1: You can connect

  • Monitor 1 using HDMI port on your computer
  • Monitor 2 using a Displaylink Certified adapter to connect USB-A to HDMI .

Option 2: Using port replicator or docking station for more connectives:

                   True Universal Docking Stations

Regards.

Thank you so much. It totally worked.

At first it wouldn't pick it up the other monitor, and then I looked at the USB folder and there was software to download. Once I downloaded it, it worked great!!!

I so appreciate your help;.

Take care, JH
