HP Pavilion x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-er0000 IDS Base Model

I have looked at my specifications for this model and was told verbally and through specification information that this laptop has a backlit keyboard. It has worked sporadically and for short periods of time, which I assume is 30 seconds. There is no button on my keyboard for it and I went in to BIOS to make sure it was enabled and to choose the timing for it and it is still not working. What else can I do? The backlit keyboard was one of the main reasons that I chose this model.

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

Observations

  • Backlit keyboard is an optional feature on this series.  Reference:  Maintenance and Service Guide  >> Page 15
  • No back light key icon on the top row of keys  = no backlit keyboard.
  • When it is included as a feature in the hardware, the backlit keyboard is enabled by default on consumer machines.
  • Consumer grade systems typically do not include access to the Advanced section of the BIOS where the timeout = never setting is located

We cannot know / check / verify whether any feature has worked for you in the past.

Without a key icon to switch on the back light, I cannot understand how the feature would exist on the keyboard.

Reminders - READ

  • Case submission to HP Support is available to those whose devices registered and are still in Warranty.

  • Some regions display phone / chat contact information only after the case is submitted online

  • Not every issue is covered under the standard Hardware Warranty.  Purchased Care Pack Warranties differ by contract.
  • HP is not a "general" repair facility: Requests for out-of-warranty repairs are usually not accepted.
  • If the problem is hardware, if your device is in Warranty, if your device is Registered, and you cannot submit your case to Support, let us know and we will forward a request.

Important

  • HP Phone numbers you find on the Internet have likely been hijacked.  Old HP phone numbers – those numbers no longer used by HP since the move to “online” case submissions  – might have been taken over by thieves.
  • Do not be a victim.
  • Stay vigilant.
