@tomdvan, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your Victus by HP 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-d0000 is not recognizing an external TV as an extended display via HDMI, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:
Check Physical Connections: Ensure that the HDMI cable is securely connected to both the laptop and the TV. Try using a different HDMI cable or port if available.
Select the Correct Input on TV: Use your TV remote to navigate to the correct HDMI input channel corresponding to the HDMI port used on the TV.
Display Settings on Laptop:
- Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings."
- Scroll down to the "Multiple displays" section and click on "Detect" to see if the TV is recognized.
- If detected, select "Extend these displays" from the dropdown menu to use the TV as an extended display.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- Go to the Device Manager on your laptop.
- Expand "Display adapters," right-click on your graphics card, and select "Update driver."
- Choose "Search automatically for drivers" to see if any updates are available.
Check TV Resolution Compatibility:
- Ensure that the resolution settings on your laptop do not exceed what the TV can handle. You can adjust the resolution in the display settings menu.
I hope this helps.
