Product: OMEN by HP 15-dc0005ne
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11
I bought new gaming monitor supporting 120hz on HDMI and 144 hz on DP. I tried connecting the monitor using USB-C and HDMI cable (2.1) and the refresh rate is only 60 hz.
Any solutions?
Thanks in advance

Its specs
https://support.hp.com/ph-en/document/c06068786
It has
- 1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, DP1.2, HP Sleep and Charge);
- 3 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (1 HP Sleep and Charge);
- 1 HDMI;
- 1 RJ-45;
- 1 headphone/microphone combo
Just have a look:
- The HDMI port which is NOT HDMI 2.0, only gives 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz
- The USB-C port gives you DP 1.2 resolution and higher refresh rate using USB-C connection (no middle man) BUT DisplayPort 1.2 offers a maximum total bandwidth of 21.6 Gbps and the USB-C port on your machine only gives Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s.
Now you can see where the problem is.
Hope this makes sense.
Regards.
