I can't swipe left or right on touchpad to go back and forward on browser - both Chrome and IE. Tried to change the touchpad setting and Synaptic setting but no option for this. Something may have gone wrong with my computer? Because the laptop that I tested at the store has that function and it worked very well. Please help to advise what I need to do?
Many thanks

Thank you for posting your query on HP Support Community,
Let's try uninstalling the Touchpad driver:
1. Press Windows+X to open the menu, and choose Device Manager on it.
2. In the device manager, expand category "Mice and other pointing devices".
3. Under this category, right click on your Synaptics Touchpad driver and click on Uninstall.
4. You may be required to confirm the uninstallation. Check the box next to "Delete the driver software for this device" and click OK button.
5. Restart your PC for the change to take effect. After restarting. Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
6. Do not perform any manual upgrades to the driver until it does automatically

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to run the Windows update troubleshooter.
Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.
Now try to perform Windows Updates -
1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.
If the issue still persists, I would suggest here is to update the Bios on your computer from HP Support Assistant Updates -
1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
2) Check for updates.
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

If you're looking to use swipe left or right on your touchpad, I would suggest you try to use this with three fingers.
This features Switch between all windows that are currently open (same as Alt+Tab).
Let me know how it goes for further assistance!
Thank you and have a wonderful week ahead 😊

Using three fingers is like using Alt Tab. What I'm looking for is going back or forward on web browswer using the touchpad. I can use two fingers to go up and down, but cant go back or forward when surfing web. This feature works on other laptops with the same model, but not on mine. Please help.

Thank you for replying,
This works only if you have a precision Touchpad. To check if you have one, open the Settings app. Go to the Devices group of settings and select the ‘Touchpad’ tab. If you have a precision Touchpad, you will see the message ‘Your PC has a precision touchpad’ at the very top.
Three Finger Swipe For Browser Navigation
Open the Settings app. Go to the Devices group of settings and select the ‘Touchpad’ tab. On the right, you will see an option ‘Advanced gesture configuration’. Click it.
On the Advanced gesture configuration screen, you can customize three and four finger gestures. Under the ‘Configure your three finger gestures’ section, look for the ‘Left’ option.
There is a drop down under the ‘Left’ option, like there is under all others. By default it is set to ‘Switch apps’. Open the drop down and select ‘Custom shortcut’ from the options.
Let me know how it goes!
Thank you 🙂
