HP Recommended

Hi @JenHMC

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the situation with the camera not being detected and the error code 0xA00F4244 appearing. Let’s go through recommended steps that can help restore camera functionality:

Verify Camera Settings in Windows

  • Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  • Ensure that camera access is turned On for apps.

Check Device Manager

  • Press Windows + X > Device Manager.
  • Expand Cameras or Imaging Devices.
  • If your HP camera is listed, right‑click > Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
  • If not listed, click Action > Scan for hardware changes.

Run HP App – Diagnose & Fix

  • Open the HP App on your PC.
  • Select Support > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Run the tool to automatically detect and repair camera issues.

Check BIOS Camera Settings

  • Restart your computer and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Look under Advanced or Security settings for camera options.
  • Ensure the camera is enabled.

Update HP Drivers and BIOS

  • Visit the official HP support page for your product.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS, chipset, and camera drivers.
  • Source: HP Support Drivers

Perform Hardware Reset

  • Shut down the computer.
  • Disconnect power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect and restart.

Test with Windows Camera App

  • Open the Camera app from Start menu.
  • If the error persists, test with another app (e.g., Microsoft Teams) to confirm if the issue is system‑wide.

These steps are specific and accurate from HP resources. Please try them carefully and let me know if the camera is now detected.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
