I have tried every one of the suggestions to disable this touchpad. My issue is that the ELAN tab doesn't show up like on my other computer under the additional settings. The last tab i see is Hardware. It does show the Elan Touchpad under the hardware tab, just like my other computer but no additional tab with the Elan title which has the checkbox to disable it when an external mouse is connected. I have windows 10 home and an hp laptop. Does anyone have any other suggestions. I have already reinstalled the drivers 2x and it did nothing to change the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

@DL1973 Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that you would like to disable the touchpad.
If you have an Elan touchpad, follow these steps:
1) Navigate to Elan touchpad settings by searching "Elan" in the start menu.
2) You will probably arrive on ETD properties. Click on ELAN clickpad and then options.
3) On Touchpad disable zone settings, check the tickbox.
4) WIth one finger gently double tap the top-left corner of the touchpad to disable it.
5) To enable it again, simply repeat step 4.
I hope this helps. If not, try reading this article: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c04648748.

Hi- thanx for the advice, turns out I was finally able to uninstall device & then finally disable touchpad. The actual Elan touchpad settings really didn't exist for me to disable by tapping, etc. I use a mouse anyway but touchpad kept interferring while typing, etc.
