Hi @jandoedel60,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To turn off the backlight on your HP Chromebook's keyboard, you can use the following steps.

  • Press the "Alt" and "Brightness down" keys simultaneously. The "Brightness down" key typically has a sun icon with an arrow pointing down on it.
  • Keep pressing the two keys until the backlight turns off completely. If you continue to press the "Brightness down" key after the backlight has turned off, the screen brightness will also decrease.
  • To turn the backlight back on, press the "Alt" and "Brightness up" keys simultaneously. The "Brightness up" key typically has a sun icon with an arrow pointing up on it.

Note that not all HP Chromebook models have a keyboard backlight feature, so if you don't see any change in the backlight after following these steps, your model may not support this feature.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
