@mbloom1980 You can tap your touchpad to click, or change the direction you scroll. Here's how:
- At the bottom right, select the time.
- Select Settings
.
- In the "Device" section, select Touchpad (or Touchpad and mouse).
- Change how your touchpad works:
- Turn tap-to-click on or off.
- Turn on tap dragging.
- Turn touchpad acceleration on or off.
- Swap your primary mouse button, if you use a mouse.
- Adjust how quickly your pointer moves: Move the sliders next to "Touchpad speed" or "Mouse speed."
- Choose type of scrolling: Turn off Reverse (swipe up to move the page up). Turn on Reverse (swipe up to move the page down).
Fix touchpad problems
If your touchpad stops working, try these steps:
- Make sure there is no dust or dirt on the touchpad.
- Press the Esc key several times.
- Drumroll your fingers on the touchpad for ten seconds.
- Turn your Chromebook off, then back on again.
- Perform a hard reset.
- If you have more than one account on your Chromebook, delete the account that has problems with the touchpad, then re-add the account.

My daughter's does the same thing. As you can imagine using it for virtual school is an issue. I just replaced the track pad and no change. As you would expect this started just one month out of warranty. Resetting does nothing. If I go into guest user mode it works fine in that screen which sits in the middle of the display. If you go off that screen to the surrounding display the cursor flickering begins again. If you play with the hinge it seems to stop for a while. On a Google Doc it zooms and scrolls. I see several posts around similar to this, but no resolution. It also doesn't do it on the desktop screen. Sure would like a useful response, otherwise this was money down the toilet and another lost customer for HP.

I just disabled the touchscreen. I never used it anyways.

use Search + Shift + T to toggle touchscreen on and off
use Search + Shift + P to toggle touchpad on and off
