HP Pavilion x360 - 14-ba081nd

Hello all!

I have had an issue for a while now and after some digging myself I finally decided to ask it here hoping for a solution. I have had a HP pavilion laptop for a while now and my problem is with watching shows/movies on popular streaming platforms like Disney+ and Netflix.

Let’s start with watching in MS Edge. Whenever I try watching Netflix via MS Edge the colour seems to change after a few seconds to a washed out, greyish colour palette only changing back when I move the mousepad or when subtitles come up on the screen (but then changing back again to a degraded saturation after a few seconds). Also a very thin red line shows up on the left of my screen and a red line on the right side of my screen. It is very annoying that the colour keeps changing and really degrades my watching experience. I’ve done some testing and it looks like this isn’t happening if I turn of hardware acceleration, but then the quality of my stream is degraded which I also don’t want. As for Disney+ it functions normally when watching via MS Edge. Other video playbacks via MS Edge like YouTube also function normally.

I have also tried the app found in the windows store for both. Here it’s basically the other way around. When watching Netflix most shows and movies can be watched normally, however still some movies changes to a greyish tint after a few seconds, but unlike in MS Edge it doesn’t change back when moving the mousepad or subtitles coming on. As for Disney+ all shows and movies turn to a degraded colour saturation after a few seconds and remaining like this for the rest of the show/movie.

Of course I have checked all my drivers as well as for updates for Edge and the Netflix/Disney+ app. It should also be said that this problem only occurs when I play the show/movie in fullscreen. It drives me crazy, so hopefully somebody can give me a solution as to fix this problem. Thank you in advance!

With kind regards,

ChielW

Hello @Rainbow23

First, thank you very much for your reply! I rechecked if I had any updates pending, however this was not the case. No updates for my graphics drivers, no updates in Windows Update and no updates in the HP Support Assistant. Therefore, my problem has sadly not been solved yet.

With kind regards,

If you want to adjust the color saturation of your HP Pavilion laptop when watching shows/movies, you can try the following steps.

  • Open the Windows display settings by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting "Display settings."
  • Scroll down and click on "Advanced display settings."
  • Under "Related settings," click on "Display adapter properties."
  • In the "Intel Graphics Control Panel" (or whichever graphics card your laptop uses), click on "Color enhancement."
  • Adjust the "Saturation" slider to increase or decrease the color saturation to your preference.
  • Click "Apply" to save your changes.

Alternatively, some media players, such as VLC, have built-in options to adjust color settings. You can also try adjusting the color settings directly on your TV or monitor if you're using an external display.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Alden4,

Thank you very much for you answer. However, unfortunately I already tried manually adjusting the saturation. This does not fix the issue that after a few seconds of watching Netflix in fullscreen the color saturation automatically scales down and the colours look very washed out.

Thanks again for your reply.
