Compaq Presario CQ62 - 310au
Hi guys,
My laptop is not booting up properly, the screen is off/ no display but the caps lock light keeps blinking and the WIFI button is also on. I have tried the following solutions:

1. Remove battery and perform a static discharge
2. Remove battery, CMOS battery, RAM and perform a static discharge
3. Clean RAM slot
4. Use new RAM
5. Connect to an external monitor (via HDMI or VGA)
However non of those solutions worked.

I've seen that a possible fix is to update the BIOS, as it might have been corrupted.

Unfortunately this laptop model "Compaq Presario CQ62-310au" seems to have been retired from HP support website.

Hope somebody can help me out or know where i can download the BIOS update for this laptop.

I did find the last BIOS update for that model - https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/swdetails/compaq-presario-cq62-300-notebook-pc-series/model/503...

However the blink code indicates the error means a CPU failure and the solution is to replace either the CPU or motherboard.

So, the BIOS update probably will be of no value.

If you wish to have that repaired or replaced, it might be of interest that there are some of those on EBay that actually still work.  There are also motherboards available, depending on how much to spend to make it work again.

Thank you for the solution, you were right it is a CPU issue and not BIOS.
