My HP 15-af156sa keeps freezing as soon as I install Adrenaline 19.1.1. Before installation is complete, the screen and mouse freeze every two or three seconds, for about half a second. I have no such freezing problems with the Microsoft generic driver. Uninstalling Adrenaline does not solve the problem. I haven't been able to find out what's causing this instability

Hi Noah,
In my case as I came to learn, the download from AMD was missing files, e.g .dll file for one. Somewhere in the updates from Microsoft some files weren't getting updated as they should've. I no longer have that issue and where what I did, I simply reinstalled the OS and went directly to AMD and allowed AMD to select what I needed. No more freezes. I am not a expert but I would suggest you message " Lil Boy Blue " here at HP, the guy is a master. I

Hey Noah,
I forgot, you can go to AMD website and if you search the critera of your computers symptoms there is usually a fix for it as well. I mean after all - HP, AMD and Microsoft all have exclusive contracts with one another for their intellectual property and those engineers are some of the industrys best.

That's interesting. I tried both methods on the AMD site. Either way I get freezing. I found that if I disabled the AMD driver in device manager then the freezing stopped. It started again when I re-enabled it.
All this is on a clean install of Windows. It was running like a bag of nails after recovery, so I wiped everything and used the media creation tool.
I've got it working with the old driver from 2015. It was meant to install Catalyst. I can't find Catalyst app or settings after install, but the driver is working at least. If the driver updates I suppose I'll just have to roll back.
