HP 17 Laptop PC 17-cp3000 (799U8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I just purchased an HP laptop 17-cp3000 laptop and I'm trying to connect an HP Elite Display E271I monitors to is - they use a display port connection to HDMI - I have one plugged directly into the HDMI on the laptop but it will not recognize the monitor I've tried finding display drivers, etc. and researched all I could on the internet and HP support site - going crazy here.

I had 2 of these monitors connected to a Windows Tablet using an external dock and they worked perfectly.  Need suggestions, thx!!

Your monitor has

VGA cable; DisplayPort cable; USB cable; AC power cable; Printed documentation and CD; HP DisplayAssistant software

And your computer has HDMI port. You need a bidirectional DP to HDMI, normal HDMI to DP (from computer (HDMI) to monitor (DP) won't work in this case.

Can you better explain what a bi-directional DP is?  I have a cable that is Display Port (DP) to HDMITV plugged directly into my computer.  I'm not 'techy' so ask for additional explanation.   Can you give a link to what it would look like, et?  I also have DP to DP; the 9/0 PIN to PIN, etc.  I have multiple cords but having an issue with this laptop as I have to use an external doc type device in order to connect mouse, keyboard, monitors, etc.  these are need for physical reasons

Thank you in advance for the help as I'm totally confused and frustrated with this.

Bidirectional cables run BOTH way. Normal cables only run one way that mean DP from computer to HDMI monitors will work BUT HDMI from computer to DP monitors won''t work. With bidirectional cables they will work BOTH ways

Thank you - I will try to find bidirectional DP to HDMI and see if that will work
