Hi Foxypj,

May I know what connector you are using? Are you using a USB-C adapter because for the monitor specifications, it seems that HDMI does not come with your HP Z Display Z24i 24-inch IPS LED Backlit Monitor.

You monitor does come with a strange aspect ratio so make sure in Intel Graphics Control panel that you have the output resolution set as 1920 * 1200.

Thanks Kem579 for getting back to me.

I am using a HP 612873-001 Display Port to HDMI 8" Adapter Cable 617450-001, but with no joy.

You mention that i need to check my "Intel Graphics Control panel that you have the output resolution set as 1920 * 1200" is this via the lap top or for the monitor

Thanks again for your help

Hi Foxypj,

Sorry if I misunderstood anything but I am so confused. Firstly, you posted two different models of an HP adapter that converts DP to HDMI. Secondly, your computer doesn't have a DP port and your monitor doesn't have an HDMI port.

If I just misunderstood something, just move on to the below steps:

I think your monitor has different video input ports so using the buttons below the monitor, make sure you go through all the different inputs.

In terms of changing the graphics, you need to change it from your laptop. Please let me know if the laptop doesn't even detect the monitor. You can change the settings under Settings > System > Display or right-clicking desktop > Intel Graphics Settings > Display

Try seeing if installing this graphics driver package helps: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp80501-81000/sp80780.exe

Hi Kem579

Again sorry for the confusion, I am using an HP P/N 612873-001 connect [ Male/female connections]. The male end plugs into my monitor and the female end gives me the option to plug a HDMI Cable into this female connection while plugging the other end of the HDMI cable into my laptop. When the monitor starts ups and scans it cannot find any connections. When I look at my display on my laptop it too cannot find any connection or other monitor.

Again sorry for the confusion hope this helps explain my situation a little better. Thanks for your patience and help

Hi Foxypj,

I want to inquire at how you arrived at this purchase because this isn't how you connect a source to a monitor. If you really need to get HDMI to DP, you need these 2:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BXMOREI/ref=nav_timeline_asin?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Rankie-Plated-DisplayPort-Resolution/dp/B00YOP0T7G/ref=pd_sim_147_5?_en...

In order to convert a laptop sourced HDMI port to a DP input monitor port, you need an active adapter. People often get confused with active vs. passive adapters but I believe this is your only choice. Converting from HDMI to DP is difficult.

Hope this helps,

kem579

Hi kem579

Thanks again for your help however i have anogther few questions for you .

I have this cable

https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Rankie-Plated-DisplayPort-Resolution/dp/B00YOP0T7G/ref=pd_sim_147_5?_en...

however the ohter unit that you have called out

https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Rankie-Plated-DisplayPort-Resolution/dp/B00YOP0T7G/ref=pd_sim_147_5?_en...

this unit  has a HDMI and a USB cable however for my laptop there is not USB slot on the side of the HDMI cable and thus i do not believe this will work.

i have tried other adaptors that i had for my old laptop and these are not working either

these adaptors are

  1. P/N: 612873-001
  2. 26-665-01 REV A2
  3. Cable that goes from Monitor display connection to HDMI connection

None of these optioins have worked

I have not yet downloaded the software you previous software, so i need to do this to get the monitor to work or is there another connect that i can purchase to resolve this issue.

Again thanks for your help and patience

Hi Kem579

I am back with the same issue. I purchased the cable that you suggested and connect the Display port monitor to my laptop via the new cable. However this did not work.

i know the monitor Display port works as it work a number of months ago with my old laptop and docking station.

I known my HDMI slot on my laptop works as i can connect to my TV  via this and it works fine.

I am not sure if i am missing something or do i need to do soemething when i plug in this new cable to enable it to work with my laptop.

Thanks again for your help
