15s-eq0031nl

How can I connect 2 external monitors to the notebook 15s-eq0031nl?

The specs for the external ports say:

1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate); 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A (Data Transfer Only); 1 AC smart pin; 1 HDMI 1.4b; 1 headphone/microphone combo

all the USB port support 'Data Transfer Only'

does this mean that I can connect only 1 external monitor?

Thank you for posting back.

To get the answer to this question, it's not possible to connect the HDMI adapter when the device is not supporting the Video output.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

You will need to use a hub or port replicator.

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you Betty for your answer.

I suppose you are suggesting an HDMI hub/replicator.

Unfortunately this would not solve the problem. The need is to extend the desktop, not to duplicate the same screen on 2 monitors.

HP Recommended

You can connect multiple devices to the replicator such as a keyboard/mouse,  display, Ethernet etc depending on type of replicator.

Betty, I can't connect ethernets or mouses to an HDMI replicator. And if I have only 1 HDMI port I will never see different screens coming out of that single port.

HP Recommended

You can connect 1 monitor through HDMI and other using the Type C to HDMI Adapter.

Let me know if this helps.

The specs say "USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only)" so it seems that the USB port does not support video signal.
How can the Type C to HDMI Adapter work if the video signal is not supported?
