Hello,
I am trying to connect my HP Envy Laptop 13 to a HP M27FW monitor which I have just bought.
I have used a USB A to HDMI adaptor to connect the HDMI cable from the monitor to my laptop.
It says that the HDMI is not recognised.
The adaptor was a cheap one from Amazon. Do you think this is the problem?
The port details are below for my laptop.
Ports
1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 10Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge); 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate (HP Sleep and Charge); 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate; 1 AC smart pin; 1 headphone/microphone combo
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Joe

You have few options:
1. Connect to USB-C monitor or USB-C to DP,
2. You can use a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as
Your "cheap" adapter from Amazon may NOT have Display Liink chip.
Regards.
