I own a HP ZBook Power 15.6 inch G9 and I am planning on buying an ultra-wide 3440x1440 monitor (''SAMSUNG ViewFinity LS34C500GAUXEN - 34 inch - 34400 x 1440 (WQHD) '')
But I doubt whether this will work well, I have totally no experience at all with monitors...this is my first time getting into it.
I'd like to have some advice regarding how this will turn out and if it will work with my laptop and perhaps what kind of extras I'd need to buy/how I'd have to set it up.

That's true. DisplayPort because its bandwidth is much higher. More information

Its specs
https://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c08104012.pdf
Which shows it has
Left side:
1 USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate (charging); 1 HDMI; 1 RJ-45.
Right side:
1 Thunderbolt™ 4 with USB4™ Type-C® 40Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge); 2 SuperSpeedUSB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate (charging)
I think it has HDMI 2.1. The Thunderbolt™ 4 with USB4™ Type-C® supports DisplayPort™ 1.4
For HDMI 2.1 : https://www.hollyland.com/blog/tips/what-is-the-hdmi-2-1-max-refresh-rate
For Display 1.4: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort
