HP Envy dv7
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a new display (Acer ED3 Series) connected to my HDMI port. I also have an external keyboard and mouse connected via USB. I simply want to close my laptop 'lid' and use my external devices with my laptop. As soon as I close my laptop 'lid', my Acer display disappears; what can I do to use all my external devices with the laptop 'lid' closed? Thanks.

Firstly you need to

  1. Select your external  monitor as the only display (or as default). It will automatically switch to main display when external display is not connected
  2. Select Do nothing when close the lid

How

(a) Please use the following instructions

        https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/4340331/windows-10-set-up-dual-monitors

(b)   Right click Battery icon, select Power options, then Choose what closing the lid does

Remember click Apply/Ok to get out.

Regards.
