Product: HP Spectre x2 - 12-c004tu

I wish to connect a VGA monitor to my HP Spectre. I have a VGA to HDMI connector and a multi-port USB-C adapter that includes HDMI, USB and ethernet inputs. But the laptop doesn't detect the external monitor when its connected via VGA > HDMI > USB-C. Are there ways that I can use the VGA-HDMI connector?

HDMI (digital) to VGA (analog) you need a proper converter. Does your monitor have other port(s) ? What is the model/product of your monitor ?

It's an old Dell monitor. The only other port is some sort of female 24 pin socket.
