I am trying to connect my Iiyama ProLite X2283HSU monitor to my HP Envy laptop through a Display Port to HDMI converter directly into my laptop's HDMI port.
The laptop does not detect the monitor and the monitor says "No signal".
Please help.

You should have HDMI out from notebook to HDMI in on converter> Dp out to DP in on monitor.
Example
The converters are uni-directional
Hope it helps,

If the converter is attached to the monitor directly then most likely it is a DP to HDMI and not a HDMI to DP converter.
Anyway looking at the monitor, would it not be easier to use a HDMI to DVI-D cable
Hope it helps,
David

Hello,
I bought an HDMI to DP converter (clearly indicated on the packaging).
Windows now recognizes the second screen (available in the Monitor Settings) but the second monitor remains black.
Furthermore, when I connect the second screen to the laptop, both screens become black (the second monitor is on because the blue led is on; it turns orange when there is no signal).
What should I do?
