Hi @2015JTD,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To connect two monitors to your HP G5 laptop using the USB-C port, you'll need to follow these steps.

  • Check Your Laptop's USB-C Port Compatibility: Ensure that your laptop's USB-C port supports video output. Not all USB-C ports on laptops support video transmission; some are meant only for data transfer or charging. Look for a small display icon next to the USB-C port on your laptop, indicating that it supports video output.
  • Verify Monitor Compatibility: Make sure your monitors support video input through USB-C. Check if they have USB-C ports labeled for video transmission (often indicated with a computer/display icon next to the port). Alternatively, your monitors may have HDMI or DisplayPort inputs, and you'll need appropriate adapters or cables.
  • Use a USB-C to Dual HDMI/DisplayPort Adapter: To connect two monitors, you'll need a USB-C to dual HDMI or DisplayPort adapter. This adapter should have a USB-C plug that connects to your laptop's USB-C port and two HDMI or DisplayPort ports to connect your monitors. Ensure that the adapter supports dual display output.
  • Connect the Monitors: Once you have the USB-C adapter, connect it to your laptop's USB-C port. Then, connect the two HDMI or DisplayPort cables from the adapter to the corresponding input ports on your monitors.
  • Configure Display Settings: Your laptop may automatically detect the monitors and extend the display, or you might need to configure the display settings manually. Right-click on your desktop and select "Display Settings" or "Graphics Options." Here, you should see options to detect the external monitors and choose how you want to use them (e.g., extend, duplicate, or only show on one screen).
  • Adjust Display Resolution: If the monitors have different resolutions, you might need to adjust the display settings to match their native resolutions for the best visual experience.
  • Power Cycle Monitors and Laptop: If the monitors are not detected, try power cycling them and the laptop. Turn off the monitors, disconnect the adapter from the laptop, and then reconnect everything after a few seconds.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your laptop's graphics drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues with external displays.
  • Check for Compatibility Issues: In rare cases, there might be compatibility issues between the adapter and your laptop or monitors. Check the HP website for any known compatibility problems or firmware updates for the adapter.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
