@Cameron47, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

Let's get your OMEN 16 connected to your external monitor. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the HDMI connection issue:

Step 1: Check Physical Connections

  • Ensure the HDMI cable is securely connected to both the laptop and the monitor.
  • Try a different HDMI cable or port (if available) to rule out cable or port issues.
  • Make sure the monitor is powered on and set to the correct HDMI input source.

Step 2: Detect Display Manually

  1. Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
  2. Scroll down and click Detect under the “Multiple displays” section.
  3. If the monitor is detected, choose Extend or Duplicate from the display mode dropdown.

Step 3: Use Windows + P Shortcut

Press Windows + P and select one of the following:

  • Duplicate – Show the same screen on both devices.
  • Extend – Use the monitor as an extended display.
  • Second screen only – Use only the external monitor.

Step 4: Update Graphics Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager (right-click Start > Device Manager).
  2. Expand Display adapters.
  3. Right-click your GPU (e.g., NVIDIA or AMD) and select Update driver.
  4. Choose Search automatically for drivers.

Alternatively, download the latest drivers from the HP OMEN 16 support page or directly from the GPU manufacturer:

  • NVIDIA Drivers
  • AMD Drivers

Step 5: Test with Another Monitor or TV

If possible, try connecting your OMEN 16 to a different monitor or TV to isolate whether the issue is with the laptop or the monitor.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
