HP 15 Touchsmart Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying to connect two lcd tv's to my laptop. I connected one tv with HDMI and the other with VGA. (both tv's have hdmi, vga and USB ports). The objective is to use the Tv's as extended display. Either one tv and laptop shows display or both tv's shows display and the laptop doesn't. My laptop has got 3 usb (2.0 version i suppose) ports, 1 HDMI, 1 VGA and one card reader. The operating system is windows 10 (64bit). The graphics card is Intel(R) HD graphics 4000. I do not want to mirror the screen. WIll hdmi or vga splitter help to extend the screen. I am looking for three displays running simultaneously and independent of each other. IMG_20190110_114147[1].jpgIMG_20190110_114341[1].jpgIMG_20190110_115156[1].jpg2019-01-10.png

Hey there! @Rajan80, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you have issues extending the screen to the third monitor connected to the PC.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

Have you tried checking with a different HDMI or VGA cable?

Please share the product number of your PC to assist you better.

As you mentioned you have issues extending the screen to the third monitor connected to your PC.

Try checking with a different monitor or different cable and check if it helps.

Try this:
Update windows and display drivers.
Go to "Control panel"
Click "Display"
Click "Change Display Settings"
All 3 Screens should be displayed there. One shows as disconnected (the screen is a darker color than the rest)
Click the screen that is not working and choose "extend desktop to this display"

Press Fn key + F4 key to extend the displays.

Extend your display by changing display settings.
a. Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution
b. Click the drop-down list next to Multiple displays, click Extend these displays, and then click OK.

Also, try the steps recommended below and check if it helps.

1) On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and R (at the same time) to invoke the Run box.

2) Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter.

3) In the Display adapters section, right-click on your display device software, and select Properties.

4) Select the Driver tab and click Roll Back Driver, then follow the on-screen instructions.

5) When complete, restart your computer and see if Windows can now detect your second monitor.

Follow to make sure your monitor refresh rates are set to same.

1) On your keyboard, hold down the Windows logo key, then press the I key.

2) Click System on the pop-up Settings window.

3) Click Advanced display settings under the Display section.

4) Click Display adapter properties for Display 1, then click Display adapter properties for Display 2.

5) Check to see what the Screen refresh rates of both monitors under the Monitor sections.

If the rates are different, then changed either one to set them to same. Then save your change by Apply > OK, then check to see if your second monitor is detected successfully.

If the issue still persists uninstall the graphics driver from device manager and install the latest graphics driver and BIOS on your PC.

You can update the drivers on your PC using HP support assistant.

Thank you for your quick response. The product number is F6D22PA#ACJ.

i have not changed any hardware of software. When i purchased the laptop it came with windows 8 and got automatically upgraded to windows 10.

i tried the solutions that you provided but it remains the same. The extend function is working for only one of the monitors at a time.

The roll back driver function is disabled.

Third display shows up as inactive although it is connected to the laptop. Refresh rates for the other two screens (laptop+1LCD) is 60Hz. I haven't touched the bios and uninstall of driver part.

The connector type of my display is LVDS.

I read on one of the hp blogs that the below conditions need to be met for three independent displays.

For the following graphics products:

  • Intel HD Graphics 4000/2500 of 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors. (my graphics card is intel 4000 graphics)

  • If two of the displays are DisplayPort monitors
  • If one of the displays is Intel® Wireless Display (Intel® WiDi)
  • If the built-in display is an Embedded DisplayPort1 (eDP).

I don't think i satisfy any of these conditions.

Thanks for the response.

It looks like you were interacting with @A4Apollo, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,

I'm the Barachiel & I'm at your service.

At the right bottom of the screen You will find the icon for intel graphics settings. Open it and click on multiple displays.

Click on identify. This should tell you whether all the three displays are detected.

Let me know. 🙂

Hi,

All the three displays shows up on the display settings tab. When i click on identify, only TWO screens are identified.

I managed to connect using a USB to VGA and HDMI port. I have the option of duplicating and extending the screens. All three screens are independent of each other in extend mode which is what i primarily wanted. Thanks everyone for your help.Screenshot_2019-01-16-17-22-14-797_com.miui.gallery[1].png
