HP ENVY Notebook 15-as101ni
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I cannot connect from the USB3.1 C port on my HP ENVY Notebook 15-as 101ni to an external monitor. Using the same adapter it works from a Dell notebook but not from another HP notebook I tried.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP ENVY - 15-as101ni laptop. I read that an external monitor does not work when connected to the USB 3.1 C port. The same monitor works fine on another laptop. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.

To provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • What adapter are you using (make an model no.)?
  • Did you receive any drivers for the adapter?

Meanwhile, I did some research on this issue and found if the USB C type port is a thunderbolt port then it can be used to connect external displays. The USB C type port which is thunderolt capable looks as shown in the below image:

If the thunderbolt (lightening logo) is missing then it may not be able to support an external screen.

I hope this information helps. Let me know. Cheers! 🙂

I have same problem.

 HP laptop Probook 650 G2

I want to connect this device to a external monitor: LG with HDMI connections.

My desktop configuration works fine, so I change cables and ports and everything.

My Targus connector USB-C to HDMI  (model aca933eu) will not work.  I get nothing on my screen.

Targus delivers plug and play. NO drivers needed.

I want to be able to connect HP laptop to my monitor, but how?
