I have cracked my laptop screen; however, the device still functions perfectly, aside from the touch function, which misreads pressure at the crack even when none is applied. I’m wondering:
1. Can I replace just the glass myself, and what are the typical repair costs? I believe the LCD panel itself is fine—do I really need to replace the entire screen, or is a glass-only replacement possible (and cheaper)?
2. If I can’t afford a repair right now, is there a way to disable the touch screen entirely so I can continue using the laptop normally without touch function
ality?

Hi @Kirk2606,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Unfortunately, replacing just the glass on the HP Envy x360 15-fh0003a, is not typically possible or cost-effective. That’s because:
The glass and digitizer (touch sensor) are fused to the LCD panel.
Attempting to remove only the glass without damaging the digitizer or LCD usually requires professional equipment (think: heat plates, suction frames) and experience.
Until you’re ready for a repair, you can disable the touchscreen, so ghost touches from the crack won’t mess with your work.
Here’s how:
Right-click on the Start button → Select Device Manager.
Expand Human Interface Devices.
Look for HID-compliant touch screen.
Right-click → Select Disable device.
Confirm when prompted.
This will turn off touch functionality completely while keeping your display fully functional with keyboard and mouse.
I hope this helps.
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍✨
