HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eh0xxx
Microsoft Windows 11

My cursor jumps randomly and moves across my screen on its own, minimising and closing tabs, and opening new ones. It is incredibly frustrating as when I'm trying to do work it closes the tab or opens up other apps.

When I try to move the cursor myself using the touchpad, it either doesn't work, or I find myself fighting with the cursor as I try to move it one way, and it jumps another direction.

I have bought myself a wireless mouse, as well as a wired mouse, in hope that they would override the issue and give me control over the cursor, but this has not fixed the issue.

I have factory reset my laptop twice, but the issue is still ongoing.

I have seen on other posts that people call this 'ghost-touch' and that if I disable the touchscreen, it should resolve the issue, however I only purchased my laptop in July 2021, and it still has 7 months warranty left - I purchased the laptop knowing that it would be touchscreen, and I still wish to use touchscreen as this is useful for me, so I don't want to disable this option.

Please could I have some advice on how to resolve the issue, or if warranty covers issues such as these.

This is ironic because I have been "upgrading" and old HP All-in-One and I ran into exactly the same issue with the mouse.

This is such a common issue that this thread shows lots of different way to "fix" this:  https://www.bluedogink.com/articles/disable-touchscreen-on-hp-devices

I did this from the Device Manager three days ago -- and it has not given me any problems, since.  If you do that, only DISABLE the Touch Screen, do not REMOVE it.  I did the second and Windows restored it the same day.  After Disabling it, it has not returned.

Good Luck
