About a month or so ago, the cursor on my laptop started to glitch out when I was using the product and then random applications/windows would open up and the zoom would change sporadically in the window. This would last for a few minutes before going back to normal and then repeat itself. It got progressively worse and eventually I stopped using the touchpad and only used my laptop with a USB-connected mouse (it didn't make the problem go away, but it was easier to control the cursor when it glitched). I've scanned for viruses and made sure all updates were applied, and the problem stil persists. Recently, I uninstalled Steam from my laptop and the problem with the cursor has become less frequent (don't know if these two events are related in anyway), but the cursor will still glitch every so often and move to random places without me doing anything (randomly moving itself to a corner of the screen or opening the notifications bar is the most common). When the cursor glitches, it wil blink in and out of visibility and show the little circles that pop up when I click something or use the touchscreen (a bunch of them will pop up). Since the frequency of the problem has lowered, I've noticed that it usually happens when I try to physically move the laptop (either the whole thing or sometimes closing the screen, though the cursor has randomly moved around when the laptop is still also). I've had this laptop for less than a year and this issue can cause the computer to almost be useless at times, and I would like to get this fixed as soon as possible.

@m_a_USA Please check if these issues occur while you are in the BIOS screen (Tap on F10 during a restart to access the same) as this would help us identify if this is either a hardware or a software issue,
Also, disable the touchpad when the USB mouse is connected and let me know if that helps,
(If that works when the touchpad is disabled on Synaptic software, it would mean that it's a touchpad failure,
However, if the external mouse doesn't work either, it could be a software/driver issue).
Uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your mouse:
Go to the Device Manager and select your mouse. Uninstall it and then restart your computer. During restart, your mouse driver will automatically be reinstalled.
- 1. Click on Start and type ‘Device Manager’.
- 2. Click Device Manager.
- 3. Click + sign next to Mouse.
- 4. Right-click on mouse entry and choose "uninstall".
- 5. Restart your computer.
I hope that answers your query,

I disable the touchpad and the issue still occurred with the USB mouse, and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and that didn’t work. When I tried to get to the BIOS screen during my computer’s restart it didn’t take me to any screen at all.

@m_a_USA The fact that the external mouse has the same issue while the touchpad is disabled shows that this could be an issue with either the touchscreen or the software, to test and narrow it down further, please run the hardware test on the touchscreen:
-
Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
-
Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
-
On the main menu, click Component Tests.
-
The Component Tests menu displays.
-
Touch Screen Test - Quick interactive test to determine if the touch screen is functioning correctly. (This test is currently not available in the Windows version of the hardware diagnostics.)
To run the test, click Touch Screen, and then click Run once.
If the test fails, please capture the 24 character failure ID and revert with the details. and if it passes, we may need to check if a windows program is conflicting with the touchscreen, try checking if it works in safe mode.
