Hello,
I recently purchased an HP 14-ep1xxx laptop, which features a USB-C port with the following specifications from the HP site: 1 USB Type-C® port with a 10Gbps signaling rate (supporting USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, and HP Sleep and Charge). I'm experiencing difficulties connecting the laptop to a Dell P2314H monitor.
Currently, I have two monitors connected through an HP USB-C Dock G5: an HP 24yh and a Dell P2314H. While the laptop detects both monitors, the Dell monitor does not display any content. I have tried various troubleshooting steps, including adjusting the resolution and refresh rate, restarting both the laptop and the dock, reconnecting all cables, and updating drivers and firmware. The Intel Graphics Command Center also detects the Dell monitor, but it still fails to display anything.
Interestingly, when using the same setup with another HP laptop (an HP EliteBook), everything works perfectly.
Any advice on resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

The HP USB-C G5 gives you
(Note: I tested 3 monitors from the dock, all worked). Can you swap port the the Dell ?
Regards.

Thanks for your reply @banhien,
I attempted to swap ports for the DELL monitor, but that didn't resolve the issue. After trying a couple of things, I'm beginning to suspect there might be a compatibility issue between the DELL P2314H monitor and my new HP 14-ep1xxx. I also downloaded the DELL monitor drivers, but it still isn't working.
I purchased a DP to HDMI cable and tried connecting the DELL monitor directly to the laptop. While the monitor is detected, it's not displaying anything.
I borrowed an HP 24yh monitor from a friend, and using the same HDMI to DP cable, I successfully connected two HP monitors through the dock to the new laptop. Both monitors worked perfectly.
In summary these configurations WORKING:
Configuration #1:
---- Laptop: HP Elitebook 850 G5
---- Dock: HP USB-C Dock G5
---- Monitors: 2 x HP 24yh + 1 x Dell P2314H OR 1 x HP 24yh + 2 x Dell P2314H
Configuration #2:
---- Laptop: HP Elitebook 850 G5
---- Dock: None
---- Monitors: 1 x Dell P2314H
Configuration #3:
---- Laptop: HP 14-ep1072nr
---- Dock: HP USB-C Dock G5
---- Monitors: 2 x HP 24yh
In summary these configurations are NOT WORKING:
Configuration #1:
---- Laptop: HP 14-ep1072nr
---- Dock: HP USB-C Dock G5
---- Monitors: Dell P2314H
Configuration #2:
---- Laptop: HP 14-ep1072nr
---- Dock: None
---- Monitors: Dell P2314H

The specs of your Dell
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1009351-REG/dell_469_4374_p2314h_23in_led_lcd.html
It has DVI-D with HDCP, VGA, DisplayPort 1.2. Your connection from normal HDMI (computer) to DP 1.2 (monitor) won't work. You have to use a bidirectional HDMI to DP cable.
I'm using HP USB-C G5 dock right now with my HP Elitebook 850 G5 computer they are fully compatible. As mentioned above, I tested the dock on my HP Envy 15-ee0047nr, my HP Omen 15-dc0071tx (nor charging) and HP zBook 14 G10 with a Dell monitor, an Asus monitor and a LG monitor - all worked.
Please use the right cable for the Dell monitor. (DP to DP or bidirectional HDMI to DP).
Regards.
